The mission of the Ojibwa Community Library is to provide a collection of print and
non-print materials to meet the lifelong learning, recreational, research, cultural,
and informational needs of the Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College and the Keweenaw
Bay Indian Community from pre-school to elders
Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College Library is located at 409 Superior Avenue, Baraga, Michigan.
It was opened in 2002 to serve the students of Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College and the community.
The library is open to the public. The library has 6 Internet-linked computers available for use by
patrons and provides free wireless Internet access. The library has a large selection of Native American
books, periodicals and movies as well as popular fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and audio books.
Ojibwa Community Library participates in the Upper Peninsula Region of Library Cooperation (UPRLC), which
provides access to over 1.5 million volumes through interlibrary loan. The entire UPRLC catalog can be
searched on-line here.
Laminating and copying are also available for a small charge. Call 906-353-8163 for additional information.

The Ojibwa Community Library is pleased to be a recipient of the IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services)
Enhancement Grant for 2008-2010. The library will be working on assisting the KBIC Elders and other KBIC community
members who have vision difficulties. This will include purchasing video magnifiers, large print books and magazines,
audio books, and movies. The grant also provides for the hiring of a Library Assistant to facilitate having the library
open evenings and one weekend day. In addition, the grant provides funding for a billboard to advertise our Library.
