you first need a spark..."

Dare to Dream!

Welcome to KBIC Even Start Family Literacy Center!

Located on the L’Anse Reservation of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, our family literacy program has the distinction of being the only Tribal Even Start program in Michigan.

The KBIC Even Start Family Literacy Program is designed to address the unique educational needs of each family through the integration of four essential components:

Our family literacy program supports the belief that the parent is a young child’s first and most important teacher. It is our mission to help parents build a strong educational foundation for family success in the home, school, and workplace upon the strengths of the Ojibwa culture within an intergenerational learning community.
