Parent-Child Activities (ILA)

“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder,
he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it,
rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”

Interactive literacy activities (ILA) are opportunities for parents to interact with their children in ways that help to build strong reading and language skills. KBIC Even Start encourages enjoyable learning activities through:

  • Frequent Family Circle gatherings
  • Library visits and story time
  • Home visit learning kits
  • Field trips
  • Lending book and toy library
  • Monthly book giveaway
  • Enjoyable literacy activities that support school success
